UNITED STATES – CISA, the US cyber security agency, has issued a statement and a guide of recommendations to prevent any invasion of the 2020 presidential elections.

The agency warns that hackers could try to target voter databases and manipulate, disrupt or even destroy voting data, demanding ransoms through cyberattacks.

In this type of attack, the hacker locks a computer with malicious software, until someone hands him money, usually in the form of cryptocurrency.

CISA said in the statement that they will work with election infrastructure, providing US state governments, remote vulnerability assessments of devices, and risk assessments.

Finally, the agency sent recommendations to local governments, urging them to regularly back up the data, and store it offline.
