Standard with Arsenal, Frankfurt and Vitoria, Gant against Wolfsburg and Saint-Etienne

Standard will face the English Arsenal, the Germans Eintracht Frankfurt and the Portuguese Vitoria Guimaraes in Group F of the group stage of the Europa League, according to the draw held Friday at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Gantoise, for its part, was in Group I with the Germans from Wolfsburg, the French from Saint-Etienne and the Ukrainians from Olexandria.

Standard, which was in the third hat for the draw, was directly qualified for the group stage, while La Gantoise, in the second hat, had to go through the preliminary rounds. The Antwerp has been eliminated in dams.

Standard had been eliminated in the group stage last year. The Liégeois have not managed to get out of the hens since the 2011/2012 edition, when they reached the 8th finals. Two years earlier, they had their best result in the competition, a quarter-final lost against Hamburg.

Eliminated in barrages last year and in 2018, the Gantois return to the Europa League for the first time since their beautiful run in 2016/2017, concluded in the round of 16 after a Belgian-Belgian duel with Genk.

Forty-eight teams are divided into twelve groups. The top two in each group will qualify for the round of 32, where they will be joined by the clubs that finished third in their group in the Champions League. The group stage will run from September 19th to December 12th.
