The Mormon Church does not react directly to the recent shootings that plunged the United States, but to a change in the law in Texas.

It was already bad to bring his revolver to mass. The restored Church of Jesus Christ, officially called "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints", now explicitly prohibits the carrying of firearms in places of worship, except for active law enforcement. "Churches are dedicated to the veneration of God and are refuges against the worries and concerns of the world", remember a new version of the Church's regulations in the "firearms" chapter.

In the previous version of these "instructions", the wearing of these weapons was only discouraged and qualified as"Unseemly". This decision is not directly related to the series of deadly shootings that have recently plunged the United States.

The Church reacts above all to a modification of the law (in English) in the state of Texas, which removes places of worship from the list of places where carrying a handgun is punishable by one year in prison. From 1 September, anyone can take possession of a revolver, unless his cult formally specifies the prohibition.
