A special messenger for Instagram
Facebook has its own messenger called Messenger, and soon Instagram will have its own with more features, because we must recognize that the basic messaging on Instagram is not crazy. In addition to sharing photos, videos, audio recordings, the service will share its location, speed of movement or the percentage of remaining battery. This is what we learn through our colleagues at The Verge.
As a reminder, this is not the first attempt to create an email application for Instagram. In 2017, Facebook launched Direct, a standalone messaging application related to Instagram, but it did not meet the expected success, because users did not like to switch from one app to another. We can therefore wonder if the service called Threads will convince. Facebook is targeting Snapchat users directly with the features that the company adds to Instagram. For example, in 2016 we had the right to stories that disappear automatically after 24 hours as on Snapchat. Today, this feature has become three times more popular than its competitor.
For the moment it is being tested internally. In any case, Instagram did not wish to comment on this information, so we do not know much about the latter in terms of functionality and the release date is also unknown.
