Pete Alonso broke the New York Mets team record for the circuits in one season as the rookie snapped his 42^e long campaign ball in a 5-2 defeat to the Chicago Cubs.

Alonso sent the ball into the stands in the fourth inning to surpass the mark set by Todd Hundley and matched by Carlos Beltran.

He had already broken the circuit record in the National for a rookie who belonged to Cody Bellinger. Alonso is only 10 from Aaron Judge and the Major League Baseball record.

He became the first rookie since Johnny Rizzo in 1938 to establish such a team mark in his first campaign.

In the Cubs, Javier Baez produced three points, including using a circuit.

Fowler steals the Brewers

An error haunts the Phillies

Adam Frazier scored on a Rhys Hoskins mistake in the ninth and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4.

Kevin Newman hit what appeared to be a double-play ball, which would have ended the inning. The ball came out of the Hoskins glove, the first cushion, and Frazier was able to register the crucial point. The Pirates have progressed to a fourth win in their last five games.

Senzel takes his role seriously

Senzel provided a two point circuit and a single point.

Eugenio Suarez slammed a 37th long ball and Luis Castillo (13-5) withdrew 11 batters in six innings.

Aristides Aquino did not hit a shot (for the first time in seven games), but he stole a second career goal.
