There is no doubt that right now all eyes are on the recovery of Leo Messi. With Luis Suárez and Ousmane Dembélé out of circulation due to individual injuries, the payroll of strikers in the workforce has been significantly reduced, leaving today only the Frenchman Antoine Griezmann and the Brazilian Rafinha as attackers in the squad.

Hence, everyone is waiting to see Messi working out with the group to breathe with relief. However, that image did not occur in the morning session on Tuesday. The Argentine forward did not jump to the pitch with the rest of his teammates but continued his solo work.

This absence begins to leave a doubt about whether or not he will finally arrive in time for the match against Betis next Sunday at the Camp Nou, especially following the maximum of Ernesto Valverde not to risk in any case with the Argentine crack.

It seems clear that the decisive day to know if Messi will be available on Sunday will be this Wednesday: the team faces a double training session. If the Blaugrana captain does not appear in any of the two sessions, his options to reappear before Betis will blur, since he would only have two more workouts with the group before the game, a very poor baggage for a player who has not yet completed a training with his teammates this season.

It must be remembered that Messi suffered a sore lesion on his right leg on August 5 in his first pre-season training and on the eve of starting the American giara. There was talk of a two-week low forecast and the deadline was fulfilled on Monday, so its comeback is expected to be imminent.

What seems clear is that if this Wednesday Leo does not return to training with the group, Valverde will have to start working on an improvised front against Betis, with Rafinha, Griezmann and the subsidiary player Carlos Pérez as the main supporters.
