Arab official delegations continue to arrive at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut to participate in the Arab Economic Summit which begins this afternoon. Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah arrived at the head of an official delegation. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabour, and the Palestinian delegation that preceded him to Lebanon to participate in the Arab Summit.
The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman was headed by Assad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Relations and International Cooperation and Special Representative of Sultan Qaboos. They were received by President Michel Aoun and Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The ceremony was held for the presidents in the presence of the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the Ambassador of Amman in Lebanon Badr Bin Mohammed Al-Manthari, the Lebanese Ambassador to Amman, Albert Samah And others.
After a short interlude between Aoun and the Omani official, he spent several minutes in the VIP lounge at the airport. Aoun and the Omani delegation left Beirut airport for his residence in Beirut.
On the other hand, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri, Socialist Walid Jumblatt at his home in Clemenceau. The Minister was accompanied by Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon Nazih Al-Najari and Ambassador Yasser Al-Alawi.
The meeting was attended by MP Akram Shahib, former minister Ghazi Aridi, deputy party head for foreign affairs Duraid Yaghi and Foreign Affairs Commissioner Zaher Raad. Jumblatt presented his guests with the current developments in Lebanon and the region.
Some of the streets of the capital, including Salim Salim tunnel, have witnessed a prolonged traffic jam in the cars, due to the measures taken by the Arab Economic Development Summit.
