Official press release of the MEF: extension of the deadline for the taxes to be paid on March 16th, including the 2020 annual VAT balance and the endorsement tax for company books. No mention of the expiration of the INPS social security contributions.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance released an official press release earlier today to communicate taxpayers’ tax official extension of the tax deadline scheduled for next Monday March 16, 2020.
No mention, however, of the expiry of the INPS social security contributions, which at the moment must however be paid.
Among the most relevant tax deadlines of Monday 16 March there was certainly the annual VAT balance, in addition to the tax stamping company books.
The official press release of the MEF with the extension of the deadline refers all to the decree law to be adopted soon by the CdM, not specifying anything about the journalistic discussion of the last hours as a result of which it seemed that the extension was intended only for small taxpayers in accounting simplified.

“The terms relating to the payments scheduled for March 16 will be deferred with a rule in decree law soon to be adopted by the Council of Ministers, relating to measures to contain the effects of theCovid-19 epidemic.
The decree law will also introduce further suspension of tax terms and measures in support of businesses, professionals and VAT numbers affected by the effects of the health emergency. ”

INPS contributions expiring already suspended for the so-called first red zone
Warning: INPS contributions are in any case suspended for the cd first red area.
The suspension concerns the subjects of the territories of the first red area, or the municipalities of the Lombardy and Veneto Regions, identified in the annex of the Prime Ministerial Decree of 1 March 2020:
- Bertonico;
- Casalpusterlengo;
- Castelgerundo;
- Castiglione d’Adda;
- Codogno;
- Fombio;
- Maleo;
- San Fiorano;
- Somaglia;
- Terranova dei Passerini;
- Vo ‘.
The obligations subject to the suspension are, instead, those relating to period between 24 February and 31 March 2020.
And the INPS circular number 37 yesterday to provide all instructions relating to the suspension of obligations and INPS contributions, foreseen by the provisions of the decree law number 6 of the President of the Council of Ministers of 1 March 2020.
Extension also for the deadline of fiscal peace and scrapping 2020?
While there is still no official confirmation on the extension of deadlines for tax peace, it is clear that if the government’s economic decree aims to protect the liquidity of households and businesses it becomes necessary postpone payment terms.
Not only scrapping is balance and excerpt of the folders. The extension of the deadlines designed to limit the economic fallout of the coronavirus emergency would also involve the closure of pending disputes and the facilitated definition of minutes of verification.
However, the official extension of these deadlines should be contained in the law decree being issued but was not mentioned in the MEF press release.
