Tax revenue. Mef: in January Slot and Vlt record a drop of 9.7%

In the month of January 2020 tax revenues from taxes on the collection of slots and video lotteries recorded a collapse of 9.7%.

This is what the latest Mef bulletin reveals. This result is attributable, in part, to the introduction of the health card for access to video lotteries, the introduction of an additional tax on winnings and the reduction in the number of devices as well as the closure of arcades in different areas of the territory.

It must be said that for the mechanism of the payment of taxes, the effect of these measures on revenue will be noticeable only in the coming months, with the publication of the monthly data subsequent to those of the month of January.

In January, tax revenues from taxes on the collection of this type of game amounted to 539 million euros, compared to 597 in the period of the previous year.

Lotto revenue also fell, -10.6% compared to January 2019.

Income from gaming activities increased + 30%.

Altogether the voice Lotto, lotteries and other activitiesof gameo (indirect taxes) records a drop of 9.1%, 1,235 million in revenue, compared to 1,359 million in January 2019.

Total revenue related to gamehi (which include various taxes classified as both direct and indirect tax revenues) amounted to 1,278 million euros (-111 million euros, equal to –8.0%).
