Ronaldinho, the Brazilian football legend, was arrested in Paraguay for using a fake passport to enter the country, South America reports. The 39-year-old past player, who won the 2002 World Cup with the Salsaw and recently visited Israel too, was arrested along with his brother, the local interior minister confirmed.
According to local media, the passports held by Ronaldinho and his brothers were of Paraguayan citizenship. An official statement issued by the local police said the Brazilian and his entourage had been invited to the casino by owner Nelson Bellotti. Ronaldinho himself was scheduled to have a number of meetings with local fans to be covered by the media.
Due to a penalty he suffered during 2018, Ronaldinho does not hold a Brazilian passport. The past star and his brother were charged with construction without a proper license and were also fined $ 8.5 million, but after the fine was not paid, the court ordered that the two should not leave the state.
