The report included various up-to-date information such as market values of companies in the stock market, free float ratios, transaction volumes and holding times of stocks.
According to the report, as of the end of 2019, the top three countries in the list of foreign investors with the highest portfolio value in the Istanbul Stock Exchange were USA, Qatar and England. Qatar, which was in fourth place in the previous year, rose to the second place. While the share of the USA fell from 29 percent to 26 percent, Qatar’s share increased from 7 percent to 20 percent.
The share of foreign investors in stock market trading volume was 29 percent in 2019, increasing by 1 point compared to the previous year.
While the trend of holding in the BIST 100, BİST 30, BİST 50 and BİST Services indices has been continuing since 2012, the retention periods have been extended in the indices other than the previous year.
On the borrowing instruments side, the share of maturities with a maturity less than 1 year increased from 54 percent at the end of 2018 to 59 percent. It is stated that the share of the futures declined for 1 – 5 years.
