FROM NEW YORK
Joe Biden did the en plein: after Buttigieg and Klobuchar, also Michael Bloomberg he retired from the race at the White House. And he also immediately sided with Obama’s former deputy, pledging to support him against everyone. But, unlike “Mayor Pete” and the Senator from Minnesota, the billionaire is not a leader with a territorial roots that controls a pool of votes. The contribution it can make, therefore, is very different from that offered by the two political leaders: Bloomberg can make available his unlimited financial wealth and a widespread campaign organization with offices in more than 40 states and over two thousand payroll employees .
Unlimited finances and 2,000 employees
That’s exactly what Biden needs, who has so far led a savings campaign with very few men on the ground. And that he has also invested very little in organization and advertising also because his financiers, disappointed by his progressive loss of popularity in the last few months, had long been making contributions with the dropper.
Hawkfish
But the most valuable weapon that Bloomberg could make available to Biden is Hawkfish, a very sophisticated artificial intelligence platform applied to politics: an instrument of which Biden’s campaign, very little digital, is absolutely lacking. Nor did the other Democratic candidates have anything comparable to the electorate selection computer system based on the examination of individual preferences created, in the republican field, by Brad Parscale, the manager of the campaign for the re-election of Donald Trump.
The fracture
In short, Bloomberg’s help would be precious, but it risks making the fracture even more profound between Biden and the radical left of the party (the wing that supports Sanders) who accuses the former vice president of being the embodiment of the old establishment of the democratic party: what they want to demolish. Already today, to discredit Biden, they claim that the social justice programs of a politician who has accepted donations from 60 American billionaires cannot be trusted. If Biden puts the organization of his campaign into the hands of Bloomberg’s structures, the split in the party would probably become irreversible.
