On April 1, at 6 pm, the head of civil protection Angelo Borrelli took stock of the spread of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) in Italy.

The data released by civil protection, even if useful, should be read with caution. Sometimes those of one or more regions are missing, and above all they are not homogeneous, that is, the criteria with which they are collected are not the same in all regions.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza has announced that the anti-contagion measures, with restrictions on travel and activities, will be extended until at least April 13th. Hope also revealed that ICU posts in Italy went from 3,595 before the crisis to 9,081.

The Federation of Family Physicians has defined a circular from the Ministry of the Interior on 31 March as “dangerous” which allows a single parent to go out with their minor children for a short walk near their home.

Yesterday, 6,608 people were sanctioned for violating the travel rules. Thirty-nine people were charged with violating the quarantine: they face a one to four-year prison sentence for endangering the health of other citizens.

In the first three weeks of March, deaths in Bergamo more than quadrupled compared to the average for the same period between 2015 and 2019, going from 91 to 398.
