Varese, March 21, 2020 – TheCircolo hospital of Varese is reorganized to cope with the advance of the coronavirus. On the fifth floor of the monoblock the new department of Medicine high intensity, which will now host covid-19 positive patients. Yesterday afternoon the area was the center of an inspection by the president of the Lombardy Region Health Commission Emanuele Monti.

The President of the Commission then stressed the importance oftechnological aspect.

«Today the greatest scarcity is the health personnel, so being able to combine technology with human effort can bring important results. It is a theme on which I will invite the regional government to invest even more resources “. From Monti came yet another invitation to the population to stay home: “We would not be able to manage an increase like this for another 10 days”. Accompanying him on the visit to the department was the general director of the Asst Gianni Bonelli. “We have reached 164 beds for covid patients – he observed – the organization is proceeding well, I have to thank everyone, doctors, nurses, OS, health and administrative workers for the commendable and moving effort”.



Bonelli also wanted to say thanks to the many people from Varese who are contributing with numerous donations, and then dwell on how the hospital is experiencing this moment. «We hope it will end soon, the pressure is high. We have very high profile professionals who know how to deal with the situation, but if the numbers continue to grow it will become difficult ». The new high-intensity medicine department has been set up in spaces previously occupied by other departments that have been moved to other hospital floors or other structures, such as in the case of Geriatrics which was transferred to Angera. TO lead the ward will be Professor Francesco Dentali. “Initially we were spared the epidemic – he explained – but in the last few days we are facing an ever-increasing number of patients. Thirty beds are filled and in the next few days we will fill about 30 more in this ward ». Dentali is supported by a multidisciplinary team, composed not only of internists who were already operating in the hospital.
