US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman and his wife Tammy, donated $ 50,000 on Passover to fund the acquisition and distribution of Food Israel’s collection to help the elderly and those in need during the Corona virus crisis.

Throughout the year, “Collect Israel” deals with food rescue through donations of surplus food received from hotels, catering companies, the IDF and other sources.

In addition, the organization receives surplus agricultural food as it passes through a process that ensures maximum food security to about 200 nonprofits across the country that deliver food to approximately 175,000 people in need.

In light of a 98% reduction in surplus food donations that go to “gather Israel” during routine and the risk of continuing to secure the food security of thousands of people who rely on food donations, the organization decided to embark on a mass recruitment campaign and conduct the campaign to purchase cooked food and distribute it at many points across the country.
