Movie plot May I? Alberto Sordi: Allow? Alberto Sordi, a film directed by Luca Manfredi, is the story of how Alberto Sordi, played by Edoardo Pesce, became one of the emblems of cinema and, above all, of Italian comedy.A young Alberto is expelled from the Milanese Academy of Acting Filodrammatici because of what was called a diction problem: a Roman accent that the actor was unable to “quell”. This is how Sordi returns to the capital, but stubborn as he is, he does not renounce his dream, the cinema, rather he undertakes to look for something that distinguishes him. Then comes an important assignment for a young debutant like him, that of dubbing Oliver Hardy, the Oil of Stan & Ollio, characterizing with his stamp the character in the Italian version. At the same time he performs in Varieties and creates the character of Mario Pio for the radio. It is during these years that Alberto meets an equally immature Federico Fellini, who will direct him in two cult films of our own cinema, Lo Sceicco Bianco and I Vitelloni. From here on there are many highlights in Sordi’s life and career, starting from the love story with Andreina Pagnani to that “macaroni you provoked me and I destroy you” of the American in Rome. A film that shows the twenty years that led a young aspiring actor to become an icon, the national Albertone with that Roman accent that distinguished him.
