Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), stated that it will be necessary to wait at least 12-18 months for the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) vaccine.

“The vaccine is a minimum of 12-18 months away,” said Ghebreyesus at a press conference via video conferencing. We also acknowledge that there is an urgent need for therapeutics (therapists) to treat patients and save lives during this time. ”

Ghebreyesus emphasized that “chronic global distress” especially regarding personal protective equipment used by healthcare workers is “the biggest threat for joint efforts to save lives”.

Stating that they sent about 2 million individual protective equipment to 74 countries that need it most, Ghebreyesus stated that they are preparing to send similar equipment to 60 countries, “More is needed. This problem can only be solved with international cooperation and solidarity. ”

Ghebreyesus said, “Unite to fight the pandemic. No country can fight alone, we can only fight together. ”
