Coronavirus, three other victims in Sardinia: the death toll rises to 5, 4 are from Sassari

Two patients died in the infectious disease ward, the other at Casa Serena in Sassari

SASSARI. Two elderly Covid-19 positive patients hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of the Aou in Sassari died this morning. They were also affected by other pathologies. In addition to the primacy in Sardinia for the number of positive cases, with 216 out of 293 infections ascertained on the island until yesterday, Sassari also holds the sad record of deaths: four, three of which only today. In Sassari the two deaths in hospital are added to the elderly guest who died in Casa Serena, the residential center for the elderly managed by the Municipality of Sassari, of which the mayor Nanni Campus reported this morning. The other death dates back to last Sunday, when the 81-year-old who had been transferred from Cardiology to Infectious Diseases ceased to live.

He expects to understand whether the cardiovascular arrest that resulted in the death of the 75 year old from Samassi, in southern Sardinia, is linked to the coronavirus. Certainly his wife was positive, so much so that – as confirmed by the mayor of Samassi Enrico Pusceddu at ANSA – she is hospitalized at the Holy Trinity of Cagliari. In the meantime, the emergency management protocol has been activated in Samassi, which provides for the reconstruction of the contacts held by the subject who has tested positive. Once the people involved are identified, quarantine or fiduciary isolation will be arranged. Her husband was active in the Pro loco. The risk is that the virus has spread.
