Coronavirus, 29 year old student dies in Pisa. University gives him degree

Twenty-nine years old, of Cameroonian origin, he was a resident of San Giuliano Terme (in the province of Pisa) and apparently at Fattoquotidiano.it he did not suffer from previous pathologies: he had been hospitalized in Cisanello hospital for one acute interstitial pneumonia but, after an initial improvement, the situation suddenly complicated in the night between Sunday and Monday. The announcement was made by his comrades from the Association of Cameroonian students of Pisa who remembered him as a “very active member of the group: a brother, a friend, a companion”. “These things are really badly lived – the mayor of San Giuliano, Sergio De Maio says to Fattoquotidiano.it – ​​was too young, too much. Our community has been affected by this tragedy“. The rector of the University of Pisa Paolo Mancarella, after speaking with the professors of the Department of Agriculture, decided to give him the title of degree anyway: “It is painful news that is emblematic of the drama we are experiencing these days,” he said.

The improvement and then the fatal complication – The young 29-year-old had moved in October from the university residence of Praticelli to the small town north-west of Pisa and, say his friends, felt “happy to have made himself independent”. Relations with the family doctor were maintained thanks to the mediation of his roommate. In the meantime, he was concluding his thesis in view of the appeal of April 6 but the pneumonia had led to his hospitalization and then to the positive test result. In the past few days, his situation had improved so much that doctors had disconnected him from the respirator until the fatal complication of Sunday night. In the meantime, all the people and students who had come into contact with him in early March have been placed in quarantine and in the next few days they will be subjected to a buffer. The doctors of the Cisanello hospital who had taken him into treatment ordered the diagnostic test and in this regard the president of the Cameroonian Student Association Stephen Kenfack asked for clarification: “We want to know how Christin died” he told La Nazione .

The memory of friends – Yesterday, Christin’s friends remembered him as a “very active member of the community” and treasurer of the association: his companions also shared his passion for dance and for being a “kindhearted” boy. To remember with affection Tuesday was also the regional company for the right to university study that in a note spoke of the student’s absence from the university canteens: “He was a generous, studious and strong-willed boy who was about to end his career brilliantly university”.
