RIYADH – Mubasher: The CEO of Saudi Arabian Oil Company – Saudi Aramco, Amin Al-Nasser, said that the networks and energy sources must be able to face cyber threats.

Al-Nasser added, during a speech at the first international conference on cyber security held in Saudi Arabia, that critical industries such as banking services, aviation, electricity and energy are vulnerable to threats, and therefore enhancing cyber security is very necessary for them.

Al-Nasser pointed out that Aramco was exposed in 2012 to a virus, but the emergency units played a big role and the company was not affected by that, and Aramco learned 3 lessons from that centered on the importance of cybersecurity.

The president of Aramco pointed out that the industrial revolution provides opportunities to face cyber attacks, pointing out that about 75 million have been affected by cyber attacks in the past 5 years.

“Fortunately, the growing technical growth has benefits,” Al-Nasser said. “In Aramco, we are increasing digitization, the latest technologies and raising awareness through analysis by identifying cyber risks.”

Al-Nasser directed the necessity of identifying cyber threats and threats and finding solutions to them to enhance economic and development opportunities.
