The number of contagions in Milan rises to two after a fearful Saturday that has seen coronavirus cases soar in Italy with 54 contagions in Lombardy and 17 in Veneto (in these two regions sport also stops: postponed three Serie A matches, Inter included). Two were the victims. The “patient 0” of the first epidemic never contracted the virus. From the government comes a decree against the emergency, Italy first in Europe and outside Asia by number of patients

Two cases in Milan, one in Turin. Two deaths between Lombardy and Veneto, the regions where most of the 76 infections are concentrated (respectively 54 and 17, then there are 2 in Emilia Romagna, 2 in Lazio and 1 in Piedmont). After a long Saturday of fear, the day that marked the arrival of the emergency and fear for the end ends coronavirus also in Italy.

The epidemic has already caused over two thousand deaths worldwide, for the vast majority in China. From the Conte government arrives at the end of the evening a decree against the emergency to prevent entry and exit from outbreak areas of the epidemic. The possibility of blocking work activities, sporting events and school trips is also provided. The sport thus stops on Sunday 23 February in Lombardy and Veneto, including three o’clock Serie A matches, Inter-Sampdoria and Atalanta-Sassuolo and Verona-Cagliari.

The eSCALATION
After the first case of infection in our country with the “patient 1”, a 38-year-old man from Codogno (Lodi), was recorded on the night between Thursday and Friday and that on Friday the infections had exceeded ten, on Saturday 22 February these unfortunately they have increased exponentially even counting the first two victims. All in just 48 hours.

A 78 year old man, Adrian Trevisan, is dead in the night between Friday and Saturday in the hospital of Schiavonia (Padua), then died Giovanna Carminati, 77 years old, from Casalpusterlengo which had passed through the Codogno emergency room, another municipality in the Lodi area, where “patient 1” was also.

MILAN AND TURIN
The two contagions of Milan concern a 78 year old resident of Sesto San Giovanni, north Milanese area, hospitalized for a week at San Raffaele hospital. His positivity to the Chinese virus was confirmed in the late afternoon. Then came the news of another case, a 71 year old from Mediglia, south area of the capital. TO turin the contagion concerns a 40 year old who would have come into contact with people who caught the virus in Lombardy.

THE RED AREA
L’epicenter, at least as far as Lombardy is concerned, it would be in the Lodi and in particular in three cities: Codogno, where the epidemic could have started (click here for the disturbing interview of an inhabitant who works with “patient 1 and who is not asked for exams), Casalpusterlengo (as we have shown you with the ghostly images of deserted streets of the video you see also here above and with i eyewitness accounts) and Castiglione d’Adda. Strict precautionary measures were taken with all three closure of public offices but also of shops and meeting places such as bars and shops. Restrictive measures have been taken in all for a dozen municipalities in the Lodi area.

The hypothesis is that the 38 year old from Codogno, the “patient 1”, now hospitalized in “stable” conditions, he first transmitted the virus (infecting his pregnant wife in the eighth month and 5 people from the medical staff and two patients to the local emergency room where he had gone, including the Casalpusterlengo woman who died) . He would have contracted it by meeting a manager who had returned from Shanghai. The latter, however, the “patient 0”, not only never got sick, but according to the latest tests he never contracted the coronavirus: At least this part of the reconstruction now seems to falter.

LOMBARDY ALARM
Certainly Lombardy is the most affected region with 54 cases at the moment. With contagions also to Cremona e to Pavia (two spouses both doctors, family doctor the husband and pediatrician the wife). For next week the teaching will come suspended in all universities of the region while the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Room said that “offices and public services will remain open but we recommend reduce sociability“.

VENETO
With 15 cases and one victim also in Veneto, the alarm is very high and even here next week, for example, the universities will remain closed. In this region the “patient 0” would have been identified: it would be a textile worker from the town of Vo ‘Euganeowhich is now under strict surveillance. He would have watched the Milanese Inter-Milan derby on TV on February 9 together with two other people who then took the coronavirus (one of them is the first Italian victim Adrian Trevisan).

NUMBERS AND FEAR FOR ITALIAN RECORDS
In the world the epidemic started from China, and in particular from Wuhan and Hubei province, currently has 2,260 dead and 77,662 infected, for the vast majority in China.

L’Italy counts with 63 il highest number of cases in Europe. Germany follows with 16, France with 12 and Great Britain with 9, Spain with 2 and Belgium with 1. Not only that, ours is the country where the virus has spread more out of Asia.

“Over 80% of patients infected with coronavirus have a moderate form and recover,” says the director of theWHO, the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “In 14% of cases the virus causes severe disease, with pneumonia and shortness of breath. About 4% of patients experience a critical picture with respiratory failure, septic shock and multi-organ collapse. In 2% of the reported cases of Covid-19 the virus was fatal, more in elderly patients“.

Iene.it continues to follow the evolution of the coronavirus emergency, which is spreading from China to the rest of the world and which has now also exploded in Italy (below you will find all the articles we have dedicated to the epidemic). Matteo Viviani he will tell us the story of Niccolò, our young compatriot stuck in Wuhan and now back in one of the next episodes of Le Iene aired every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.20pm on Italia1 .
