It is therefore not so much a surreal game but a desirable scenario as represented in the play The President, written and directed by Pier Francesco Pingitore and on the bill until 23 February at the Salone Margherita in Rome, the historic theater of the Bagaglino, in which to be elected to the Quirinale is the female star par excellence, that is Valeria Marini. You got it right: not Marini Franco, the old notable elected to the presidency of the Senate thirteen years ago, but Marini Valeria. An epochal gap, by gender, population and attractiveness, compared to the current Quirinale tenant: from the white to the ancient Mattarella hair to the very blonde and disruptive Valeria.

His election took place on January 27, 2022. "After many votes," explains Pingitore, "the parties almost unanimously vote for Marini. The background is not well known, but probably a series of crossed vetoes lead to this solution. The real imaginative hypothesis, however, is that, at the time of the election, the Conte Bis government is still in office. I have the feeling that not only will it not last until that date, but not even until next February: I therefore know that I will have to put my hand to the show, before the programming ends »(smiles).

INSTITUTIONAL ROLE
In the show, Marini, discarded as a diva, falls into the institutional role, becoming a cross between Napolitano and Mattarella, Pingitore tells us, "as impartial as the second, but as the first interventionist, when he understands that it is up to to her to find a solution to save Italy ». At the same time, though a woman, she does not yield to the lure of the politically correct feminist, she calls herself "the president" and not "the president" or "the president," as Boldrini might have dreamed. And he rejects the advances of the powerful and the opportunisms of those who would like to pull it by the jacket.
«His attractiveness», continues Pingitore, «leads Trump to approach her. But she immediately puts it on, and slaps fly. Then Marini meets Greta: the girl fiercely exposes her theories, arousing the understanding of the president who nevertheless does not listen to her. And he still receives Carola: the Rackete would like the migrants to be accommodated in the thousand rooms of the Quirinale, but Marini answers her no: in the rooms there are already squatting occupants who do not want to unpack ". The president also runs into the protagonists of Italian politics: "It must curb the craving for Salvini", the director tells us, "that he can't wait to go back to the elections, to have something to do with Di Maio who looks smart but it seems funny, to talk with Conte, represented in the leguleia mania to specify all the points and in the desire to stay attached to the armchair, and to deal with Renzi who trembles to regain power. In short, it is a caricature of a situation that is already a great caricature in itself ».

Here then is that a serious turning point could be to entrust the main tasks to women. "Things would certainly be better," Pingitore guarantees. "They have more positive power, are more active and with a long-term vision." Valeria Marini agrees that, imagining herself at the Quirinale, dreams of being joined by another illustrious woman. "It would be nice," he says, "if Giorgia Meloni became prime minister. You have all my respect. I like what she says, she is a woman of great strength, with clear ideas and who goes to the point. Sometimes it may seem too direct, but it always talks to try to solve problems. While the other politicians seem more committed to arguing than to make Italy great again ".

… AND ON SALVINI
As for Salvini, whom Marini had said he voted, the estimate is confirmed but with some perplexity: "He is a person of depth who dedicates himself to finding concrete solutions", warns the showgirl. "Lately, however, he has made false steps and has addressed some issues with too much aggression". As for her direct involvement in politics, Marini says no, but keeping an open door: "In the past they asked me to take the field, but the political career is complicated, it's not a game, you have to study. In the future who knows … ».

Meanwhile she says she is ready to learn: «If I had to choose between Conte, Salvini, Trump and Putin, I would go to dinner with Merkel. She is a woman who holds the role very well, the curiosity of knowing her would be enormous and would have so much to teach me ». At the moment, however, Marini says she is focused on the show: "I really enjoy this role of president," he continues, "because it gives me the opportunity to sing, dance, act, but in an entirely new" institutional "role. And then he allowed me to return to work with Pingitore, a great director who baptized my success, and to return to the Salone Margherita, this jewel that now risks being sold. Doing a show here is therefore part of a wider cultural operation. And for the same reason with Chiambretti, in whose CR4 program – La Repubblica delle donne I will be the protagonist, we are launching an appeal to save the Margherita ».

Monito to whom Pingitore joins: "The Show," he explains, "is owned by the Bank of Italy, which put it up for sale for a sum of around 10 million. At the moment no buyer has come forward, also because we do not buy a theater for speculation: even assuming an annual profit of 100 thousand euros, it would take a century to recover the investment ». The fear is that the potential buyer will buy it but to turn it into a luxury shopping center.

"In theory this is impossible because the theater has an artistic use and is protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. But in Italy, as we know, laws are made to be reinterpreted ». Hence the wish: "The most correct thing is that the current ownership takes it. I wonder why he wants to sell it. I doubt that with all its money the Bank of Italy needs to make money ».
