Marcello Dell’Utri, co-founder of Forza Italia sentenced to 7 years for external competition in a Mafia association, will be free tomorrow after serving his sentence and benefiting from early release. Dell'Utri was arrested as a fugitive in Lebanon in 2014 after the final confirmation of the sentence of the Court of Cassation: he had spent four years in prison before being transferred to the house for health reasons, in July 2018.
Dell’Utri is 78 years old and was for many years an important manager of Publitalia, the company that collected advertising for the Mediaset group (which at the time was still called Fininvest). In 1993 he contributed to founding Forza Italia and was one of its main organizers. From 1996 to 2013 he was always in Parliament, first as a deputy, then as a Member of the European Parliament and starting from 2001 as a senator (always in Forza Italia or in the Popolo della Liberta).
