"I was looking for a pure soul, full of innocence, strength, beauty, tenderness and courage – explains the photographer -. I found glimpses in the eyes, in the gestures and words of Emma and Yara, Indya and Mia. and in the tears of Kristen and Claire. In the voices and songs of Chris and Rosalia. And in Stella (his daughter, ed) innocence. Because there is a Juliet in every woman and I will never stop looking for her. "
Shot last May, the Calendar Pirelli 2020 is the first made by an Italian photographer. Is composed by 132 pages, with the date on the cover, excerpts from "Romeo and Juliet" and 58 photos, in color and in black and white. On the first and fourth cover shines with golden letters the actual calendar, with the highlighted dates of Juliet's birth, her meeting with Romeo, their wedding and their deaths and the dates of birth of the models. "I wanted concept related to beauty and love. A very simple and very strong concept. And love and beauty have been elements of my research for many years. And I wanted, as the first Italian photographer of a project of an Italian company, a story linked to Italy ", explains the photographer, born in Ravenna, photographer and photojournalist who has lived in Paris since the 70s.
And so it is born 'Looking for Juliet', the search for an ideal, a dream. "It crosses the ages. It is the ideal of a woman who symbolizes femininity, the sweetness of love and the qualities of a woman who combines fragility and strength, shyness and rebellion. Juliet is all this. The tragedy she is the protagonist of well represents that fragile boundary that exists between dream and reality, between a tear and a smile, between happiness and pain, between good and evil, I have always been fascinated by this border so labile, almost an ambiguity. It is a dream and it will never become reality. This is its charm, its beauty, its mystery. I hope my Giuliette will make you dream ".
