Jordan, the farm laborers burn on the farm: 13 victims, 8 are children

Thirteen Pakistani citizens died at dawn today due to a fire in their home 45 kilometers west of Amman. This was announced by the Jordanian Civil Protection, explaining that two Pakistani families lived in the house on a farm. The 13 died after suffering severe burns, while three others were injured in the accident and are now in the hospital.Among the victims also 8 children specifies the Reuters. Civil defense spokesman Iyad al Amre said in a statement that according to initial investigations, the fire occurred after midnight, perhaps due to a short circuit in the electrical system. The village is called al-Shuna al-Janobia, explains the PA, and is located along the Jordan Valley, near the border with Israel and Syria, south of the confluence of the Jordan and Yarmouk rivers.
The Jordanian authorities are investigating the incident. According to official data, about eight thousand Pakistanis live in Jordan and work in the agricultural sector. Reuters reports that many foreigners working in the agricultural sector often live in extreme poverty in the Jordan Valley.
