Starting from the title, Skywalker's rise, that the director J.J. Abrams refuses to explain, great is the mystery surrounding the new chapter – the last – of Star Wars. So much so that Disney has preferred not to show the film before the interviews with the famous director and the actors, in Los Angeles. Star Wars: Skywalker's rise, episode IX of the popular saga, according to the same Abrams, will be the end of the history linked to this intergalactic family; but will leave room for numerous other stories from the world of Star Wars. The film will be released on December 18th in Italy.

J.J. Abrams had directed theEpisode VII: The awakening of the Force, fourth in the list of the highest grossing films in the history of cinema, with over two billion dollars. Episode VIII, The last Jedi, had been directed by Ryan Johnson (1.3 billion collections). In Skywalker's rise return Daisy Ridley as Ray and Adam Driver in those of Kylo Ren (son of Princess Leia and the late Han Solo, who dies in the finale of episode VII); and then they come back John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and the legendary Mark Hamill in the seminal role of Luke Skywalker. And, as Abrams reveals, he will also come back in the film Carrie Fisher (Leia), who died three years ago, through a series of casual and ingenious technological findings.

J.J. Abrams:

Mister Abrams, can you explain the title of this episode?
"Well, obviously I don't want to spoil the surprise. But I hope that after seeing the movie you will find it fits perfectly. It took him a long time to choose it. I just hope the answer in this regard will not come out before the release of the film."Does the struggle of Good versus Evil continue, the good side against the dark side of the Force?
"Obviously, how to deviate from the narrative that George Lucas did you create 40 years ago? What I love most about this saga is the idea that the most common person has the possibility and the potential to influence extraordinary changes, bigger than himself or herself. Star Wars it is a story that unites us all. It's about compassion, feelings, surrogate families, unlikely bed partners and real relationships in an unreal world. And all this and more makes it so great Star Wars. The heart of this saga is being able to be so current and engaging while taking place in a galaxy far away ".

Did he imagine that he would return to direct this episode?
"Not after directing episode VII: I felt very satisfied and satisfied. You know, it's not easy to make a film like this, given the gigantic expectation. But they called me to close the saga, and I couldn't say no. I hope that the film starts a series of new original stories in this sci-fi world. The challenge of this film was to provide a worthy ending. I hope I succeeded. "

J.J. Abrams:

Did turning it face up to new challenges?
"Yes, this film was much more challenging, we did things beyond what I thought we could do. But this is the case for the whole saga of Star Wars: new challenges and new ways of dealing with them. Here are new planets, new creatures, new human characters or not. There are scenes with hundreds of characters in alien costumes. Scenes with creatures that are supposed to be digital but that are actually costumed actors ".

There is great anticipation of how the late Carrie Fisher returns to appear in this episode. Can you give us some details?
"The importance of Leila throughout the entire saga is so great that you cannot simply drive it out of history: we only think of the relationship with Kylo Ren, his son, who became the leader of the First Order, or his being the leader of the rebellion. no way to tell the story without Carrie – the fact that we had a movie to use – shot at the time of Episode VIII – it was a miracle for us. We could not have reproduced it in CGI, it would have been a heresy. We received this bizarre cosmic gift of scenes shot by Carrie and never used before. As if she had sent them herself from heaven ".

A personal memory of Fisher?
"In his latest book, Princess Diarista, Carrie had written something about me in thanks: "Special thanks to J.J. Abrams for putting up with me twice. Twice? I had never worked with her before Episode VII and I didn't understand what he meant. Now I know: he knew that I would reckon with her again. I shudder to even talk about it, it was something typical of Carrie, a seer. She knew more than any of us ".
