Franco Bechis, in his editorial on Time on newsstands Tuesday 3 December, criticizes the attitude of the prime minister Giuseppe With you in the parliamentary debate on Mes. Conte, writes the director, has managed to say nothing for 28 long and boring pages. Conte had to clarify if he had intervened – as the Parliament had committed him – in the council of Europe and of Euro group on June 21 last to change two passages of that reform critical for Italy. We are all clear that if that intervention ever took place, it would have failed in any case because the two critical points were there before and are identical in the current text.

He discarded empty rhetoric, sentences devoid of any meaning, supporting documents in which fresh water was contained to the maximum. The only sentence repeated several times is that he would have forced all the other European heads of state to bow to a "package logic". What this means is mysterious. So after his speech they were many long faces after supercazzole of the premier, and the darker faces were in the M5s benches, first of all that of Luigi Di Maio. The feeling after this passage in the classroom is – to put it in a play on words – that for Conte it was rather bad. In the palace corridors members of the majority yesterday did not exclude a government crisis for the first time.
