Xerox, ready multi-billion dollar offer for HP?

The business newspaper states that the Xerox board of directors would have discussed the possibility, but at the moment there is no certainty either on the will to advance the offer or on the fact that it would succeed.

Still according to the WSJ, the Norwalk company would still have it received a proposal for informal financing by a well-known bank.

The press agency Reuters contacted HP who, through a spokesman, said he refrained from commenting on speculation or rumors. Xerox did not respond to a request for comment.

Xerox recently sold its 25% stake in the joint venture Xerox Fuji for a total value of $ 2.3 billion, budget that could be part of the HP operation.

Xerox also set aside a $ 6.1 billion agreement last year which would have led to the merger with Fujifilm due to pressure from two of its major investors, Carl Iachn is Darwin Deason.

It was not a good year for HP either, who had to face problems with printer sales in the business segment, with a decline in revenues in the third quarter of 5% compared to last year.

The company announced in early October a 16% cut in the workforce to contain costs and questionable measures relating to the world of print cartridges in order to increase turnover.

If we consider these elements, although there are still no official offers from Xerox, there would be good chances of success for a possible understanding. In the meantime, following the rumors circulating, the value of the two companies' securities has increased significantly.
