Weather alert in the Center-South: schools closed tomorrow 12 November

Schools closed, tomorrow November 12, in various cities of the Center-South due to the new wave of bad weather that Italy is going through (FORECASTS). The regions where the mayors have decided to leave the students at home due to the weather warnings issued by the Civil Protection are above all Calabria, Puglia, Sicily and Basilicata, but the schools will also be closed in Anzio, in Lazio. The municipality of Naples has also decided to close the schools due to the yellow alert planned for Campania. Tomorrow and the day after, instead, the activity of nurseries and kindergartens in Venice and in the islands of the Lagoon is suspended, given the forecasts of possible exceptional tides up to 140 centimeters. The activity will instead be regular in the schools of Lido, Pellestrina and the mainland. Here are the cities where schools will not open tomorrow.

Schools closed in Calabria

The schools will be closed tomorrow in different cities of Calabria – including Catanzaro, Crotone, Reggio Calabria and Lamezia Terme – due to the weather alert broadcast by the regional Civil Protection which provides for a red grade on the province of Reggio Calabria and the entire Ionian belt, and orange on the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza and Catanzaro. In Catanzaro, where the schools were closed even today, 11 November, for the orange alert then turned into red by the afternoon, this morning the municipal operations center (COC) was also activated. The Municipality's emergency response teams are monitoring the situation with particular attention to the waterfront, due to the risk of storm surges.

Schools closed in Puglia

In Puglia, where the weather alert issued by the Civil Protection is orange, the schools of every order and degree will remain closed in Brindisi and also in some municipalities of the Province. In Puglia the orange alert for hydrogeological risk for thunderstorms and local wind is active from this evening at 8pm and for the next 24 hours. Hydraulic risk is foreseen for the Lato and del Lenne, del Candelaro, Cervaro and Carapelle and Basso Ofanto basins. Students from Lecce will also remain at home, as decided by the mayor, Carlo Salvemini, and from Taranto. Public parks in the municipal area will also be closed in both cities. The schools will remain closed in many other Tarantino municipalities.

Schools closed in Sicily and Basilicata

Tomorrow schools also closed in Sicily, in particular in Catania, Acireale, Ispica, Pozzallo, and Castelvetrano. In Basilicata instead the schools of Matera, Marsicovetere, Corleto Perticara, Tramutola, Tursi, Pisticci, Pomarico, Policoro, Nova Siri, Scanzano Ionico, Montalbano Ionico, Grottole, Bernalda, Ferrandina, Rotondella, Miglionico, Montescaglioso will remain closed. Finally, also in Anzio, in the province of Rome, the teaching activity was suspended in all school complexes in the area.
