Veaam at VMworld Europe 2019 in Barcelona
In conjunction with the announcement of the partnership with Microsoft, Veeam participated in VMworld Europe 2019 which was held in Barcelona. It was an opportunity to meet Daniel Fried, General Manager, Senior Vice President of EMEA and Worldwide Channels of Veeam, who told us: “Veeam was born as a backup solution for VMware vSphere, but since then we have worked for build partnerships and support different platforms, following the needs of customers. Technology is changing: VMware, hypervisor, cloud, hybrid cloud … and now the new password is multi-cloud. In fact, for the user, multi-cloud means using different types of clouds and moving data from one to the other. And this is what Veeam does ”.
Stimulated by the consideration of Edge9 that a true multi-cloud is not yet real, given the obstacles that exist to move dynamically from one platform to another, Daniel Fried replied: "It's true, we're not there yet, but the situation is evolving very quickly. The announcement of the partnership with Microsoft goes in this direction. With the Veeam solution a customer can move data from the on-premise to Azure and vice versa. It should also be considered that we work with all hyperscalers and they know what we do and in any case they decide to make partnerships with us. Hyperscalers know that a Veeam customer can use our tools to remove data, but they accept Veeam. Better to be "open" because in this way everyone can develop your business. We are seeing an acceleration in giving customers more flexibility. "
