"The teachings of Mazzarri and Frustalupi were an extra boost"

First goal and first double between the professionals. Federico Giraudo, left-back and left-handed outside of Torino on loan at Cesena, has decided to hit two goals of his career all together and above all in just three minutes. Since he had finished his career in the youth grenades, he had never been able to find nets, which were never the specialty of the house.

Hi Federico. So in three minutes you decided to do everything you had never done before, the first goal and the first one-two among the professionals.

He thinks that the last goal I had done in Primavera was always a strange case on 6 November and that time it was against Sassuolo. I had never scored in Vicenza or Terni. Now I managed to find a brace in three minutes. I was missing the goal, even though I play in a role where it is difficult to do it and it is not so fundamental, but a player always wants to score.

Besides the goal, how is your experience going in Cesena?

Cesena has reached the last one. When this opportunity presented itself, I did not hesitate to accept. It is an important and demanding square, in line with Vicenza and Terni. I immediately had the confidence of mister and all the companions and in fact I played from the beginning. We are a young team. The company wanted to invest in young people, because after the bankruptcy there was a small revolution. We are a group of many young people and we play well. Although sometimes we sin of youthful errors, but we know how to play and let the people enjoy themselves.

Before Cesena you played at Vicenza and Ternana. All important squares. How much are these experiences enriching you?

In these squares it is always nice to play. You breathe real soccer air, even if you are in Serie C. You feel like a player, you have so many people at the stadium, you see their passion and their needs because they demand a lot from you. There are always pros and cons, but above all positive aspects. I feel very enriched by these three experiences.

In these years you are showing off also for a certain flexibility. You've held virtually all the left-wing roles.

I have always done the exterior high in Turin. Then Menghini changed my role and put me outside in the whole range in 3-5-2. Then once I was called up to the National team, they made me play at full back and from there that became my role. That choice proved to be a good solution. Mostly, however, play is in a defensive line at 4 and as fifth in the 3-5-2. Now Mr. Modesto is making me play in the 3-4-3 as a midfield.

Before arriving at Cesena you supported the preparation with Torino, what memories do you have of those moments?

For me it was a very nice experience. At the beginning I was at the Universiade and I joined them later. I did more than a month of training with the First Team. I must say that it was nice because you see players that make it seem easier. They all play with simplicity. The group was also exciting to live. All players give you advice. Ansaldi, who plays in my same role, helped me a lot, gave me advice and I tried to steal something from him.

By training with them, have you also figured out what to improve to become a Serie A player?

When you train you see the difference with them. I had positive feelings in that month anyway. Clearly I have to make a journey, because there are so many differences, especially from the physical point of view, they always have shorter times. In C, the game is very different. One should have the possibility to be able to compare more often with the players of A to improve, but in this way one would never play, so loans are welcome to grow.

What was it like having Mazzarri as your coach?

The coach even in game situations tried me both from fifth in 3-5-2 and from third central left, I could learn a lot. Not only Mazzarri, but also Frustalupi helped me during training. This gave me an extra boost.

Then you could also experience the atmosphere of the Europa League preliminaries.

Having never been summoned, you experience that climate differently. The weather was good after the games when you played against those who did not take over or had a few minutes available. There was a very cheerful air and the training sessions were very intense. Even training was more fun, so it was easier for them to recover because the weather was relaxed.

Now do you expect a leap in the category? Would you feel ready for a Serie B?

This year I had some possibilities and also for that I waited until the end. Also last year I went to Terni convinced to do the B, but then the team was not fished out and my bet unfortunately I lost. There would have been the possibility of doing B. This summer the possibilities I had did not materialize. I hoped and hoped in B. I think it's an important step that I will have to do.
