The students were kept for a day at home in protest. The reason? A disabled student who, according to the parents, would create difficulties for the class.
The incident happened on 11 October, but only now is it announced by a notice published, on the institute's website, on 28 October.
"The educating community intends, at this particular moment, to reaffirm with strength and determination that the idea ofinclusion, today more than ever, it is an integral and fundamental part of the genetic makeup of this educational institution”Reads the note.
"An idea, that of inclusion, which today must be defended and protected more than in the past; with the concrete and daily progress that finds its ultimate meaning in the planning, training and pursuit of the well-being of all children and parents who have decided to entrust their children's educational and human destiny to our school.
The school is a community and as such must take care of everyone and especially of those who need it most, also because as teachers we feel particularly connected to the idea of our constituent fathers who wrote in article 34 of our Constitution: "The school is open to everyone …".
Let the community of Lodi know that in our school we will find strong support for inclusion, legality and love for beauty understood as a constant search for well-being for anyone who crosses the threshold of our institute”Concludes the official note of the teaching staff meeting on 24 October.
