The yellow-red government continues its project to combat evasion by acquiring new tools.
In recent days, there have been news of new instruments or regulations, still under study, but already included in the draft of the Budget Law 2020, which, in all probability, will be adopted as early as 1 January next year.

The tax fight with anonymous data

Among the new instruments, which will be in place since January 1, 2020, there will probably be a new evasometer, called the "Anonymized Evasometer".
For this instrument the government has already allocated 83 million euros and will be able to provide, according to the technicians of the Ministry, a recovery from evasion of about 100 million euros only in its first year of use.

How will this tool work?

Thanks to artificial intelligence, the new algorithm available to the Inland Revenue is able to cross-reference data relating to invoices and payments, income, consumption and current accounts.
In any case, as already mentioned, taxpayers will be guaranteed complete anonymity, at least if, during data processing, the system does not find any incongruity. The assessments should only be triggered if there is a difference that is equal or greater than what is shown by the current account balance at the end of the year, and what has been declared by the tax payer. Obviously, the burden of proving the consistency and lawfulness of what has been declared will remain with the citizen.

Of no small importance is the fact that, with instruments like this, the financial administration would be able to implement its control activity in full compliance with the law on privacy.
