ROME – Conor O'Shea has resigned from the leadership of the national team. The 49-year-old Irish technician, who arrived in March 2016, leaves in advance of the expiry of his contract set at the end of May next year. "We are saddened by Conor's decision not to complete the route as contractually planned – said the federation president Alfredo Gavazzi during the federal council that took place in L'Aquila -. We thank him for the commitment and passion with which he has held his own role in these years and we wish him the best professional successes in the tasks he will cover. ""I loved every minute I spent in Italy – it's O'Shea's words – and I really believe in what we have done and how it can be achieved in the years to come. We have started a process and generated new hope, but I also believe that the end of the World Cup represents the best time for everyone to make the changes in view of the new cycle. I have built friendships and made experiences that I will never forget ".
