on 14, 15 and 16 November 2019 about 500 young students from the third grades of the middle schools of the Arezzo-Siena Valdichiana visited the multimedia and immersive exhibition organized on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Tuscan genius, with the aim of to introduce the Valdichiana community and in particular young people to new technologies with a focus on robotic technologies.
Over one hundred people took part in the scheduled conference held Saturday afternoon with the aim of raising awareness among the young people who were about to choose second-level schools in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines, having as reference the current historical moment characterized by high unemployment, the lack of skilled workers in innovative sectors, the opportunity to find jobs in companies operating in Robotics and Automation.
After the interesting Robot Demonstration held by Prof. Mauro Colucci, Professor of Mechanical Technology at IPSIA Di Foiano della Chiana and Ing. Daniele Benedettelli, Freelance Lego Designer, the greetings from the Mayor of Marciano della Chiana followed. Presidents of the Cortona Valdichiana Host Lions Club, Lucignano and Val d'Esse, of the “Q” Zone, of Prof. Bellugi, representing all the School Leaders who have joined the Project, the Mayor of Lucignano, Roberta Casini, and the Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Cortona Maestro Francesco Attesti, representing the Mayors who sponsored the initiative.
First Speaker of the Conference Prof. Fausto Casi, Curator of the Museum of Media in Arezzo, with a speech on the subject "Leonardo da Vinci in" De divina proportione "by Luca Pacioli, which was followed by an intervention by Ing. Benedettelli, with the theme "Educational Robotics and STEAM"; the first part of the evening event was concluded by Prof. Domenico Prattichizzo, Full Professor of Robotics, University of Siena, with a talk on “Wearable Robotics for improving the quality of life. Following the Eng. Gionata Salvietti, Researcher of Robotics and Automation, University of Siena, directed an interested Roundtable with 10 Local Entrepreneurs operating in the field of Robotics and Automation, Prof. Moreno Bilancetti, School and Work Alternation, Castiglion Fiorentino, and Prof. Anna Bernardini, Director of the "Marcelli" Comprehensive School in Foiano della Chiana.
The event ended with the intervention of Dr. Lucrezia Lombardo, Writer, entitled "For a poetic technology" and with the proclamation of the 10 students of the various middle schools to whom will be donated Giunti editore gift card for the 'purchase of books.
