Just throw an eye on the fairing to realize that the most advanced version has a different airbox, taller and narrower than that of the 2019 version (in the photo below on the left, on the right is the old one). Probably for aerodynamic reasons, but also to bring more air to the engine, given that one of the points on which Yamaha has to work the most is precisely the top speed of the M1.

The frame is also different and even in this case the new one is easily recognizable because it is aluminum colored, while the standard is matt black. Finally, on the new bike both riders have the new engine on which they started working since the Brno test and which was then proposed again in the Misano test.
Both Valentino and Vinales made their first outing with the M1 2019, then moved on to work on the most advanced bike, a sign that there is no hurry to try to repair the gap to Honda and Marc Marquez.
