A ten week old dog, abandoned by its owners. Probably for that second little tail that appears in the middle of his forehead. The puppy – found in Jackson, Missouri – was welcomed by the volunteers of "Mac the pitbull", an animal rescue center, which gave him the name of Narwhal, named after the Monodon monoceros, among the most mysterious cetaceans in the Arctic that have fascinated explorers for hundreds of years. These are creatures similar to the beluga, with the peculiarity of having a tooth, similar to a vine, with a winding from right to left, in the typical form that gave rise to the mythical unicorn. Renamed the "unicorn" dog, the little one "rescued from the cold, has no pain and plays for hours", he told the BBC Rochelle Steffen, who runs "Mac", which takes its name from a pitbull terrier rescued seven and a half years ago. "Over the years we have welcomed dozens of dogs that mostly had special needs – deformities, clefts, traumas — with the sole objective of giving them a second chance."
On Facebook, Steffen said that "X-rays showed that the secondary queue measures about a third of the size of the real one." Narwhal is not yet available for adoption as the staff wants it to "grow a little more and verify that the queue does not become a nuisance or a problem". Many immediately asked themselves if the small tail was a nuisance to him, but the vets did not find anything strange in the animal, apart from a slight injury to the leg: "The extra tail is not connected to anything and has no other use if not to make it the most adorable puppy ever ». Meanwhile, the photos of the puppy are collecting hundreds of likes and serve to raise awareness on the issue of the adoption of strays.
