MotoGP | Marquez: "Alex in the team? Not everyone wants to come in HRC" – Moto

Marc Marquez showed a great feeling with the Valencia circuit, especially with regards to the race pace. In fact, in the PL4 the Honda centaur has put on track a decidedly competitive, fast and constant pace, which elects him as the favorite for the Sunday afternoon race. The eight-time world champion on the dry lap, however, had to surrender to the strength of Fabio Quartararo, capable of winning the beauty of six pole positions in 2019.

The Catalan is satisfied with the second position obtained in the afternoon of Valencia, on a track that saw him win only in 2014 in MotoGP: "Takeable quartararo? It always is. When I get on the track, I start to take pole. But today I expected to stay further away. I was closer than when I expected, especially because Fabio and the Yamaha on the dry lap are very strong. I'm happy anyway because the pace is good. On the dry lap we did the first row which was the goal. I'm second and happy for tomorrow".

In the interview granted to Sky, Marquez also commented on the increasingly insistent voices that suggest he will be right his brother Alex to take the place of Jorge Lorenzo at his side: "It is something on which I never pushed and I don't want to push. In the end, if you ask me if I'm happy that my brother goes to MotoGP, obviously I'll say yes. Because I said it already a year ago: my dream is to challenge myself with him in MotoGP, but it's okay with Honda or with another brand, another factory. We are talking about the Moto2 world champion, but I have nothing to do there". Clearly for Alex Marquez the comparison will not be as simple as Marc: "More disadvantages for him. Because you know that in the next box there is one who is winning or fighting for victories trying to win championships. There is more disadvantage because the comparison is always there, whether it is my brother or not, but the comparison is always with the teammate. There are more disadvantages than advantages, but not everyone wants to come in HRC".

Alex could get on the RC231V already in the tests scheduled for Tuesday, Marc remained vague: "I don't know, you have to ask Honda, or Puig, or I don't know who will decide. I have nothing to do with it. I want to win. Logically if one ends in front of me I prefer both my brother and another, but I always try to win. The relationship between brothers is one thing, but the other is professionalism. I have my secrets in the box, he has his in his, and this remains so". But Marquez senior has hinted that his brother deserves the top class: "It's not in my hands, ask him. Brother or not we must not forget that he is the Moto2 world champion. The problem is that there is always the comparison with the brother of … let's see how he goes here, that he is suffering a little. At 23, this is not easy. He must stay focused and do his job which is what he does best".

in the meantime Jorge Lorenzo, at the last qualification of his career, gained the 16th position on the grid: "Today it went more or less as we expected – explained the Mallorcan – maybe I could have started a little higher on the grid, but those in front were on 1: 30. The plan for tomorrow is to make a good start and avoid problems in the initial laps, and then see what my pace will be at the end of the race. I think we can move forward and keep a pace closer to the leaders than in previous races. Tomorrow it will surely be an exciting race, so I hope I can have fun and help Honda in the best possible way".
