MotoGP | Dovizioso: "Good feeling with the new tested material" – Moto

Andrea Dovizioso closed the first pre-season practice session at Ricardo Tormo with several comparison laps between the Desmosedici 2019 and the prototype that will face the 2020 MotoGP season. In the ranking of the best times the rider from Romagna got the fourth time, putting himself behind the Yamaha trio driven by Fabio Quartararo and demonstrating a good first approach with the new specifications tested by the Borgo Panigale company during the day.

Dovizioso expressed his overall satisfaction with Sky Sport MotoGP: "I pilots are demanding, but today it went very well. Logically we have to try better what we have tried, because we need the comparison to better understand and decide the direction, and above all we have to wait for the comparison with another track", he has declared: "However the feeling was good with the new tested material, surely Interesting. I don't go into detail because it's too soon for us, but I'm happy. We work a lot, but it is not easy and obvious to be able to improve. Today we tried a different frame, and for now I call it interesting, stopping here ”.

With regard to the propulsion of the 2020 prototype, the rider from Romagna expressed himself as follows: "Power is always increased, it's the goal of Ducati and I'm always happy to be able to get it", Not believing that making further improvements in the engine area in view of the Jerez and Sepang tests is the fundamental core of the winter work of the Rossa di Borgo Panigale:"In my opinion it could also be, but it is not an aspect on which we are working particularly, I do not think it is what we have to change, we are working much more on the chassis, for being able to be faster on corners. Everyone knows the aspects we need to improve".

Dovizioso then explained the plans for the last test day in Valencia: "We will always have a standard bike and an evo bike, the other official drivers are also doing this kind of test". Asked about the need to disrupt the current project in case of lack of feedback on the track, the Ducati centaur explained how a revolution is just counter-productive: “Redesigning everything always puts you in a quarrel, and maybe right now our season is perceived a little bad, since we did seconds with a good margin from the third, so we didn't go wrong. Rethinking the project right now would be pretty stupid. You always have to do things sensibly and evolve what you have. Then sometimes you can make big changes or not, but distorting everything is not our idea".
