The real star of the KTM stand at EICMA this year was the new 1290 Super Duke R. Several times announced and paparazzi, highly anticipated and very powerful, the super naked has certainly not disappointed expectations. The changes made by KTM, on the other hand, are very numerous and have involved both the chassis and the engine, including electronics. In order: the 1101 cm LC8 twin cylinder3 it becomes lighter and more powerful, reaching the threshold of 180 hp and 140 Nm of torque. It is managed by a refined electronics, whose strengths are the new inertial platform and the 6D folding sensor, designed to record the data to be sent to the control unit, which in turn works to manage traction and braking more effectively. The frame instead remains the trellis in chromium-molybdenum steel tubes but has been redesigned, coupled with an unusual rear frame in aluminum and composite materials. The suspensions are fully adjustable WP, with the single-sided swingarm configured with new over-revs. Good news also regarding the number marked on the scale: for 2020, the Super Duke loses 6 kg, stopping on the threshold of 189 kg dry. If the lines remain roughly the "classic" ones of the Austrian naked, in the new model they become more pointed and athletic thanks, also, to the new air conveyors.
It is a precious motion and, to take it home, you need 18,720 euros. It will arrive in KTM dealerships in February 2020.
