"We will fight with parliamentary groups to approve the ius culturae and ius soli, of course we will". If the Democratic Party wants to pass the law that provides for the acquisition of citizenship to anyone born in Italy as soon as possible, the M5S is reluctant and replies: "Is there a half country under water and one thinks of the ius soli? ". The rejoinder of deputy secretary Pd Andrea Orlando: "Let's think of more things together". Later, Luigi Di Maio reiterated: "Right now citizens are asking us to deal with emergencies. No slogans. Zingaretti's proposal

At the dem convention in Bologna, where the Pd passed the new statute (566 votes in favor, one against and 5 abstentions), Zingaretti asked that "the Salvini decrees be revised as soon as possible" and ensured a "law for equal pay for women and men ". But the M5S did not like the announcement of wanting to approve the ius soli as soon as possible.

And in the controversy, Forza Italia has also entered the case arguing that the center-right party will make a "very tough opposition" against the norm. This was stated by Elvira Savino, ensuring that the proposal will not pass. "The law to acquire Italian citizenship does not change – said the exponent of FI – the one that exists now is fine and no one, except evidently the left, feels the need to grant it massively to immigrants". Meanwhile, the League is ready to block any intervention by the center-left with Matteo Salvini, who has already announced that he is willing "to do battle, inside and outside the Parliament, to stop the jus soli and to prevent the change of Security Decrees".
