ROME – The first "dance" from commander of AstroLuca around the international space station. With the ISS opening the astronauts Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency (ESA) e Andrew Morgan of NASA have come out to face the most adventurous spacewalk ever, lasting six hours, in which they will have to "rejuvenate" the antimatter hunter Ams-02 (Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer). AstroLuca is the first European astronaut to have the role of leader of an extravehicular activity.

Not only. Parmitano will be the leader of the entire series of spacewalks for the maintenance of the antimatter hunter Ams-02 (Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer), said the head of the Exploration Group of the European Space Agency (ESA), Bernardo Patti, adding that the activities could eventually be from 3 to 5, depending on the possible difficulties. NASA considers these EVAs to be particularly demanding, as AMS-02 was not initially designed for extraordinary maintenance operations.
As the main 'spacewalker', a role also known as 'EV1', Parmitano is wearing a white space suit with red insignia, while Morgan is a white one with no insignia. The duo is assisted by NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, from inside the ISS.
For AstroLuca it is already the third Eva after those carried out in 2013 during the Volare mission of the Italian Space Agency. His second outing was characterized by a dangerous accident that ended the extravehicular mission shortly after its start. Parmitano's spacewalk is streamed live from ESA and NASA.
