A BERLINA COUPÉ – The BMW 3 Series (and more recently also the 4 Series) is the model that best embodies the essence of the German brand, a wise combination of quality, technology, style and dynamic qualities. The declared objective of BMW is to transfer these characteristics, which have determined its success, also in future models with an electric motor. And the first to benefit from it will be the BMW i4, a four-door sedan with a coupe look, which will be produced at the Munich plant starting from 2021, of which the house has released some images taken during development tests.

POWER TO SELL – To equip the BMW i4, which will rival the Tesla Model 3, we find the eDrive, the compact electric motor of the BMW now in its fifth generation. Completely revised, together with transmission and control electronics, it has a power of 530 hp. Thanks to a new generation high voltage 80 kWh battery, the declared range is 600 km. Compared to a compact design, the battery has an optimized energy density and accepts charging power up to 150 kW; the accumulator can be recharged up to 80% in about 35 minutes and in 6 minutes it is possible to "top up" a sufficient autonomy to cover 100 km. The performance of the BMW i4 is very respectable: sprint from zero to 100 km / h in about 4 seconds and top speed of over 200 km / h.
The first three electric models of BMW from now until 2021 will be, in order: iX3, iNext (temporary name) and i4. All will be equipped with the fifth generation of the BMW eDrive system.
THREE MODELS WITHIN 2021 – BMW's electric offensive involves the arrival of the iX3 SUV in 2020, followed by iNEXT and BMW i4 in 2021: these models will share the same framework. These will be joined by another 25 hybrid and electric models announced by the group by 2023.
