Giorgio Tirabassi after the heart attack: "I'm fine, I'm in good hands"

ROME – Giorgio Tirabassi calms everyone: "I'm fine". The actor is hospitalized in intensive care at the Avezzano hospital, in the province of L'Aquila, where he arrived in serious condition. "They saved him," sources close to the family say. He was subjected to angioplasty and according to the doctors he is now "out of danger".

The Roman actor and director, 59, he had a heart attack while he was in Civitella Alfedena, a mountain village in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park, where he was expected to show his directorial debut, The Big Jump. And it is he himself, after the intervention, who reassures about his health: "I want to reassure everyone: I am well and in good hands" he wrote on Facebook.

Giorgio Tirabassi, the career

The Roman actor, 59, made his cinema debut in 1984 with the film Magic moments by Luciano Odorisio with Stefania Sandrelli, Sergio Castellitto and again Lagana, then in 1990 he joined the cast of another television product directed by Proietti Villa Arzilla with Caterina Boratto, Marisa Merlini, Ernesto Calindri and Yvonne Sciò.

In the Nineties he was chosen as interpreter of Verso sera (1990) by Francesca Archibugi, with Marcello Mastroianni, then he became interpreter of two films by Carlo Mazzacurati: The call of the night (1992) and Un'altra vita (1992). After appearing in an episode of Un commissioner in Rome and Il caso Bozano (1996), he was directed by Maurizio Zaccaro in Il carneere (1997).

Formidable interpreter of Italian fiction, Giorgio Tirabassi after The fourth king (1997), becomes the carabiniere with the code name Ombra in the TV movie series Ultimo (1998, 1999 and 2004), then puts himself at the service of Gianluca Maria Tavarelli for one of the his most challenging and interesting roles, that of the late judge Paolo Borsellino in the 2004 eponymous fiction, alongside Ennio Fantastichini, Luigi Maria Burruano, Elio Germano and Claudio Gioe. It is the best of his interpretations.

Giorgio Tirabassi is also the winner of the Nastro d’Argento for Best Supporting Actor (to be divided, however, with the whole cast which also included Vittorio Gassman and Stefania Sandrelli) for the Ettore Scola film La cena (1998), becomes the protagonist of the detective TV series Police District (2000-2007) by Fabrizio Bava and Riccardo Mosca in the role of Roberto Ardenzi, alongside Simone Corrente, Ricky Memphis and Claudia Pandolfi, rising to the role of protagonist of the series.

The Roman actor even wins a David di Donatello for best short film directed by Non dire gatto (2001) with Roberto Nobile and participates in TV series like Boris (2007-2008) and I liceali (2008-2009), but also at videoclip by Fiorella Mannoia "I love only you", cover of the beautiful song by Sergio Endrigo.
