HP officially confirms: Xerox has made an offer

The rumors circulated in recent days regarding the possibility of an offer by Xerox for the acquisition of HP Inc. have been confirmed by one of the direct interested parties: HP has in fact issued an official statement in which it states that the negotiations are in progress , and that – but this obviously a sentence of circumstance – the company committed to accomplish everything that turns out to be in the best interest for shareholders. "As examined at the recent Securities Analyst Meeting, we place great trust in our multi-year strategy and in the ability to position the company for a prolonged success in an evolving sector, in particular given the various levers available to lead to the creation of value.
Against this backdrop, we have periodically held comparisons with Xerox Holdings Corporation on the possibility of a potential combination of assets. We considered, among other things, what would be the elements on which to reason for a transaction. We received a proposal that was sent yesterday.

As we have said, nothing can be known for now about the size of the operation: Xerox capitalizes around 8 billion, while HP's market capitalization amounts to approximately 27 billion. And since, according to rumors, the operation should take place in mixed cash and shares, it is more correct to speak of "merger" and not acquisition.
