In June of this year, the French Minister of Education modified the national curriculum, introducing a section dedicated to Bitcoin. French educators will therefore be required to explain to students the impact Bitcoin could have on both the French and international economies.
The Ministry will also provide teachers with three explanatory videos, which will provide answers to the following questions: "Is Bitcoin the currency of the future?", "Can Bitcoin replace the euro?" and "Do you trust your currency?"
According to the program defined by the Ministry, students will be asked to compare Bitcoin with traditional money, thereby increasing their basic knowledge of both cryptocurrencies and the world of traditional finance.
Adoption of Bitcoin in France
Starting next year, over 25,000 French stores belonging to 30 major distributors, including the sportswear giant Decathlon and the Sephora perfumery chain, will begin to accept Bitcoin payments.
Stephane Djiane, CEO and founder of Global POS, commented on the initiative:
"This is an extremely important symbolic step in the evolution of payment methods in France. However, more than a symbol, what we will bring in the 25,000 points of sale is the possibility of entering safely into the world of Economy 3.0."
In January, several tobacco shops in Paris started selling Bitcoins in exchange for traditional money. In particular, the tobacconist provides a ticket containing an alphanumeric password and a QR code, which can then be used on the web portal of Keplerk, a French provider of wallet for cryptocurrency, to obtain the Bitcoins purchased.
