False insurance policies: discovered a website

The IVASS, Insurance Supervision Institute, discovers an irregular site that issued false policies: so the vehicles are not insured.

The distribution of insurance policies through the website ‘www.vertiassicura.it’ is irregular. The policies received from customers are false and the related vehicles are not insured ”. So in an official note, released now by the press agency Adnkronos, theIvass (Institute for insurance supervision) where it is stated that the site in question does not indicate the identification data of any intermediary, nor any registration number in the Single Register of Intermediaries – Rui, held by Ivass.

It should be noted that the company Verti Assicurazioni Spa has disregarded the contents of the aforementioned site, declaring itself totally foreign to the fraudulent conduct perpetrated through it and has announced that it is about to report the facts and those responsible to the Judicial Authority.

Ivass recommends taking appropriate action caution in the evaluation of insurance offers via the internet or telephone (also via WhatsApp), especially if temporary. In particular, Ivass advises consumers to to check, before the payment of the prize, that the estimates and the contracts are referable to companies and intermediaries duly authorized and to consult on the site www.ivass.it.

The Institute also states that consumers can request clarifications and information from the Ivass Consumer Contact Center at green number 800-486661 from Monday to Friday h. 8.30 -14.30.

THE Internet sites or i Facebook profiles (or other social networks) of Italian intermediaries who
perform online activities must always indicate:

  • the identification data of the intermediary;
  • the address of the registered office, the telephone number, the fax number and the certified electronic mail address;
  • the number and date of registration in the single register of insurance intermediaries as well as the indication that the intermediary is subject to Ivass control.

The Facebook sites or profiles (or other social networks) that do not contain the information listed above do not comply with the rules on insurance intermediation and expose the consumer to the risk of entering into policies counterfeit.
