Ex Ilva, the unions: "Workers will not stop the plants"

"The workers of the power stations will not proceed to any stop of the plants and consequently the territorial secretariats of Filctem-Cgil, Flaei-Cisl Reti, Uiltec-Uil and Ugl-Chimici, reject the imprudent business communication to the sender". To say the category unions of the electricity sector, referring to the plant suspension program communicated by ArcelorMittal.

The words of the unions

"We will not allow – they add – to those who have made specific contractual commitments to the Government, to the workers and to the whole city, to turn their backs on an entire nation". The trade unions underline that "even the electricity sector is likely to suffer a considerable employment repercussion from the partial and / or total closure of the Ilva factory's production facilities. There are 100 direct employees, net of the induced, plus 9 workers already in Cigs, allocated to the two power plants (CET 2 and CET 3) of the company ArcelorMittal Italy Energy ». The plants «have always represented a necessary and strategic reality for the steel plant, given that they have been the best industrial and environmental guarantee for the same plant. They carry out an activity of self-production of electricity for the plant, using the resulting gases from the works of the steelworks. The stoppage of these operations will automatically lead to the blocking of the same power stations ». The territorial secretariats of Filctem-Cgil, Flaei-Cisl, Uilcem-Uil and Ugl-Chimici say that they will provide "the necessary contribution to all the trade union actions that will affect the plant, for the defense of a fundamental industrial site for the economy national, for the development of the South, for the jobs concerned, in a territory that already suffers a serious job insecurity ".
