The most accredited hypothesis at the moment is the murder: "Forensic counseling and post-mortem examinations will try to understand the modalities of a murder carried out in a brutal manner", declares the prosecutor Carlo Mastelloni. «The deputy in charge (the public prosecutor Federico Frezza, ed) has already activated the mobile team to search for managers ».
The body, now in an advanced state of decomposition, had a wound under its neck. But an autopsy will be needed to determine if that cut, whose depth is not known at present, may have resulted in the death of the victim. Or if the death is due to other causes.
What is certain is that someone has hidden the body by putting it in the garbage bag. And then it vanished making you lose your tracks.
Saturday, after the discovery of the body, the magistrate on duty, the prosecutor Frezza, the Mobile and the scientific Police were immediately alerted. Investigators have also scoured the entire house with the support of the Padova Forensics.
The case actually has the contours of yellow. Beginning with the fact that the victim's cohabitant, the sixty-five year old Ukrainian Olena Leri who had lived with Foti for years, seems to have vanished into thin air.
In recent weeks some of the residents would have seen her leave with a trolley. An element, however, that is not officially confirmed. But these days the woman is untraceable by telephone. And the last access on Whatsapp dates back to Friday. The police are looking for you. But there are also other investigative elements on which the investigators are working at this time.
The first. There would be the testimony of a neighbor of the victim who in the past few weeks would have heard noises coming from the third-floor apartment, the one where Foti and his partner Leri lived. A commotion accompanied by the screams of man. And therefore silence. What happened in that house, as long as this story is true?
Second. The ways in which the body was found. The alarm started from a neighbor, a tenant of the building who, suspicious of the fact that he had no more news – for days – of the seventy-five year old, contacted his daughter Giada. The woman, as soon as she reached the apartment, first knocked on the door, then asked for information at the hospital. At that point he called for help. The Fire Brigade, when they climbed with the ladder to reach Foti's house, immediately noticed the presence of that unusual casing lying on the balcony.
But there is something else. The apartment was in perfect order. Clean. Shine to shine. No trace of an external break-in that could make one think of a robbery or a tragically finished robbery.
And the front door of the apartment did not show any signs of forced entry. More. It was locked. In short, those who hid the body in the bag probably had a copy of the victim's house keys, since his were found inside the house.
It is plausible that Foti knew the killer, or at least those who concealed his body.
The findings of the Scientific Police, on Saturday, lasted for hours. But only late in the evening there was confirmation of the dramatic death.
Investigators returned to the scene even yesterday, hunting for new elements to be able to reconstruct the crime scene with greater accuracy.
As mentioned, throughout the house there is no trace of blood or anything else. Only on the balcony were biological liquids from the now decomposed body found, leaked when the Fire Department opened the black bag they came across.
From what has been known, the medical examiner who intervened on the spot did not bother with the causes of death. An autopsy will be needed, which the prosecutor will probably request in the next few hours.
At the moment, however, not only the companion of Foti, the Ukrainian Olena Leri, but also the couple's cat has disappeared into nothingness. Who took it? –
