MILAN – October positive for the automotive sector in Europe. Last month, registrations increased by 8.7%, reaching 1,177,746 units. This is the highest figure in October ever recorded since 2009. In the same month of last year, registrations had decreased by 7.3% after the entry into force of the Wltp test, establishing a low basis of comparison for 2019. As a result, almost all EU countries recorded increases in October, with the exception of Cyprus and the United Kingdom. The FCA figure was also positive, with sales up 2.6% even though the group's market share in Europe dropped from 5.9% to 5.6%.Looking at individual countries, four of the five main EU markets recorded strong increases: Germany (+ 12.7%), France (+ 8.7%), Italy (+ 6.7%) and Spain (+6 , 3%), while car sales decreased in the United Kingdom (-6.7%).
